About me

Hi, I am Tianne Wheat Ellis, Licensed Massage Therapist since 1995 and owner of Calvert Therapeutic Massage in Lusby, MD.

First and foremost, I am a mom and grandmom and wife. I was a single mother for 13 years. I know how difficult it is to make time to take care of yourself throughout those struggles. One of the best things I learned was that when I took time for self-care I was a better and more present mom. Since then, I remarried in 2011 and I am happily looking forward to my 11th anniversary.

My journey into massage therapy began after enduring years of suffering from chronic pain. Shortly before my 2nd birthday I had meningitis. The good news is that I have no real memory of the illness. However, from that age until I was 29 years old, I believed that all humans had head pain, 24/7.

I spent this part of my life with constant migratory head pain, and since I could not remember a time without it, I simply assumed it was normal.

During my childhood and teen years, I spent my summers swimming and I found that I could massage teammates’ shoulders ‘knots’ out. I developed the ability to find tightness in muscle tissue, and it was a fun experience to feel those fibers change!

As an adult, I was a Navy wife and traveled around the mid-Atlantic area for a couple of years and came home just before the birth of my older daughter to settle back into life in Calvert.

Eventually I found work in the local nuclear power plant. I worked for 2 different contractors, even doing 2 travel jobs with one of them. By then, having two young daughters at home made travel jobs a terrible idea, so I decided to use the last couple of years at the plant to pay my tuition for massage therapy school.

My own pain journey blended with the healing power of massage eventually led me to the Baltimore School of Massage. Once I started classes I knew I was where I belonged!

My calling is to help people live their lives without the burden of severe, frequent, or on-going physical and emotional pain. I worked in medical offices early in my practice. I am very grateful to the caring doctors I worked with who would take the time to answer all of my questions regarding a patient’s diagnosis. I was lucky to have their knowledge at my disposal.

Fast forward a few years and I learned phenomenal techniques for addressing headache and migraine pain. It was life-changing. Knowing how my quality of life improved through massage therapy inspires me to meet that goal for my clients too.

I found another calling a few years ago, and finally I am offering transformational coaching services as well. This form of coaching is built on changing the hold that your past has on your present self, and then empowering you to create the future you want and deserve.

When I am not in my office it’s easy to find me in my garden, with native bees, my rescue dog, or with one of my grandchildren - unless I’m out on the motorcycle with my husband! I am aware of how lucky I am to have my children and grandchildren so near to me.

I love to garden and have become a bit hooked on preserving the foods I grow. There is an unexpected pride and joy in planting a seed, watching the veggie grow and then seeing it beautifully preserved in a Mason jar.

Please feel free to reach out to me at tianne@calvertmassage.com with any questions or to schedule your appointment. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
